"Levering is the last school built in the Vistorian Era. It is still used for the same reasons. The shcool was named after William Levering who was one of the trustees of the school. The structure that was built in 1857 in now replaced by the present granite designed by the architect Joseph W. Anshote. The cost was $37.933.
Not a lot has changed in the almost over 200 yr. old building that still stands on the corner of Ridge and Monastery avenues. The new public school was turned over by the contractor Charles M. Bryens to the Property Committee of the Board of Education. A thorough inspection of the building got the most satisfactory results.
The building has been serving the community for over 200 yrs.
