The Innovation Plaza, on 37th Street at the Science Center, attracts and connects the area’s many stakeholders to a place of leisure, learning and activity in an urban setting. Learn how Innovation Plaza activated an under-­-utilized asset on the campus by engaging local partners to create a dynamic and contemporary campus center that connects audiences in the University City District with a landmark narrative experience.

Tour the extraordinary Comcast Center, designed by world-renowned architect Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners. The vertical-steeped, 1,121-ft. tower includes a block-long lobby with a glass-enclosed indoor plaza Foster described as a “window on Philadelphia.” With loft-like work spaces, NBC Studios at ground level, and a 200-bed Four Seasons Hotel, the tower contains multitudes.

2.0 University Place is a LEED Platinum and ENERGY STAR certified commercial office building with six LEED Platinum tenants. The tour shall feature the co-working lounge, The Studio @ 2.0 and one of the largest vegetated roofs in the City of Philadelphia with panoramic views and a growing wildlife habitat. The tour will also focus on energy tracking and verifying ongoing performance.

Join us in an exploration of environmentally innovative strategies to weave Philadelphia’s second city – its rooftops and elevated planes – into our urban experience. Philadelphia’s second city of elevated planes is expanding the fabric of the urban environment socially, horticulturally and environmentally. Rooftops are often considered forgotten spaces, but as our population grows the value of these difficult spaces increases and to have resilient cities we need to address these challenging sites with innovative design strategies. A tour of the Delaware River Waterfront Trail, featuring improvements to the bike trail and four of the waterfront parks along the trail will be conducted. Center City Philadelphia has initiated bike lanes throughout the city and trails along both the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers, and the tour participants experienced the Delaware River Waterfront trail design with connections to several of the parks along the riverfront.

East Market – 1100 Market Street Phase 1 is an 18 story mixed used building w/ centralized underground parking and loading located in Center City Philadelphia. 1100 Market Street is part of a larger overall complex that spans a full city block. Unique to this project is the Pedestrian walkway, through the middle of the site, Chestnut Walk that will link Market Street to Ludlow Street. 15 levels of residential units w/ an indoor/outdoor amenity level available to all residents sits atop 2 levels of retail. Currently under construction, the building consists of steel framing w/ composite concrete decks up through Level 003 and switches to Precast concrete hollow core plank up through the rest of the building. Once completed, the east portion of 1100 Market will consist of 321 residential units w/ nearly 60,000 sf of retail space.

DD16T07: CHOP Schuylkill Tower

The CHOP Schuylkill Phase I Project is located at 2716 South Street, Philadelphia, PA.  The project is designed by Ballinger and is a Joint Venture between L.F. Driscoll Co., LLC and Tishman Construction.  At 703,000SF, the project includes the construction of a new Class A Office Tower to be used by The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for Clinical Research and Administrative Office programs.  The first two floors of the Tower include the main lobby space, conference rooms, food service facility, and seating areas to accommodate building occupants and conference attendees.  The project also includes the construction of a pedestrian bridge to span from the promenade plaza over the CSX tracks to the Schuylkill River trail.  Hat, vest, safety glasses and appropriate footwear are required.  Extras may be available.  Waiver form is required upon arrival.
